One of your characters temporarily gains a magical power of some kind - what power do they gain and what do they accomplish with it?

Object: Rose Tinted Glasses

Those with rose-tinted glasses are said to see only the pleasant things in a situation, and thus can be naive. Take one of your characters and write a scene as though they were wearing a pair of such glasses; how are their reactions different than otherwise?

Today's Challenge:

To attract good fortune, spend a new coin on an old friend, share an old pleasure with a new friend, and lift up the heart of a true friend by writing his name on the wings of a dragon.
An ancient Chinese proverb

Assuming this proverb is lore in your characters' world - write a) a scene that depicts one of the three paths to good fortune b) a story that encompasses all three.

Written for coffeeandcorks's daily challenge. The prompt will be at the end of the fic. Rating system is that of the BBFC, because I am British.
This deals with two of my own characters in my current work: Kato, a trainee assassin, and Artur, his mentor and master. Kato is young and ambitious, fiery, dangerous in his recklessness; Artur is older, calm, precise. This isn't a scene from the actual novel, I just threw my characters together for the challenge to see what I got. The result is unedited, a raw version. I'm still new to this, so be nice - although concrit on my style is welcome, as I am rusty.
